Landslide in Central Vietnam Buries Passenger Bus

(MENAFN) A landslide triggered by intense rainfall engulfed a passenger bus under rocks and mud on Sunday night, resulting in six fatalities and 19 injuries in Khanh Hoa province, central Vietnam, according to a local online newspaper.

The vehicle, carrying 32 occupants including two drivers and a single assistant, was caught in the landslide while navigating a particularly landslide-prone stretch of the Khanh Le Pass. The front of the bus was buried and heavily damaged in the incident.

Numerous passengers became trapped inside the wreckage.

Due to the continuing heavy rain, authorities could not access the bus until after midnight.

Rescue teams have retrieved four of the deceased, while two others remain trapped beneath the debris as recovery operations proceed.

Meanwhile, the 19 survivors with injuries have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
