Palestinian Factions Denounce Proposed International Force

(MENAFN) Palestinian resistance factions issued a stern warning on Sunday, asserting that a US-drafted resolution calling for the deployment of an international mission in Gaza represents an effort to enforce external guardianship over the enclave and marginalize Palestinian self-determination.

In their collective declaration, the groups contended that the suggested mandate would open the door to “external domination over the Palestinian national decision,” transferring Gaza’s governance and reconstruction to an overarching foreign authority—an arrangement they believe would deprive Palestinians of their inherent right to manage their own affairs.

The factions emphasized that all humanitarian initiatives must be directed through “competent Palestinian institutions” operating under UN supervision.

They insisted such efforts should honor Palestinian autonomy, prioritize the needs of the civilian population, and remain free from any attempt to manipulate relief aid as a political or security instrument intended to reshape Gaza’s internal dynamics.

They further cautioned that routing humanitarian support through a foreign-administered framework would transform assistance into a means of coercion, eroding local Palestinian bodies and diminishing the role of UNRWA, which they said “must be protected as an international witness to the refugee issue and their inalienable rights.”

According to the statement, undermining this agency would weaken a crucial institution that documents and upholds the rights of Palestinian refugees.

The groups also rejected any provision that includes disarmament in Gaza or infringes upon the Palestinian people’s internationally acknowledged right to resist Israeli occupation.

They insisted that issues concerning weaponry should remain “a purely national matter,” linked to a political path aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and establishing a Palestinian state.

In addition, the statement criticized the anticipated function of the suggested multinational force, cautioning that it would “practically serve the (Israeli) occupation” by engaging in direct coordination with Tel Aviv.
