US vice president honors Charlie Kirk at Turning Point USA Event

(MENAFN) US Vice President JD Vance delivered a keynote address to conservative activists at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest convention, using the closing session to pay tribute to the group’s late founder, Charlie Kirk, and to energize supporters around Christian values and the “America First” agenda, according to reports.

This year’s gathering marked the first AmericaFest held without Kirk, who was killed in September. The multi-day event brought together leading conservative figures for speeches and political discussions, as stated by reports.

During his address, Vance expressed gratitude to Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s widow and the current head of Turning Point USA, acknowledging her backing of the current administration.

“I cannot thank you enough for your strength, your grace and your kind words of support for this administration and for me personally,” Vance said.

Earlier in the week, Erika Kirk publicly voiced support for Vance as a possible presidential contender in 2028, though the vice president did not directly comment on that endorsement during his speech.

Throughout his remarks, Vance frequently referenced Charlie Kirk’s legacy, calling on attendees to continue the work he began.

“If you miss Charlie Kirk, do you promise to fight what he died for?” he asked the audience, adding: “Do you promise to help defeat the radicals who cheered his death?”

Vance also indicated support for stricter law enforcement policies, saying he and President Donald Trump favor reforms aimed at accelerating the justice system.

“Donald Trump and I have a list of better judges and prosecutors to enact swifter justice,” he said, while voicing criticism of current Senate procedures.

The vice president went on to sharply attack Democratic leaders, including California Governor Gavin Newsom and Representative Ilhan Omar, accusing them of policies that he said weaken US security and economic strength.

Concluding his speech, Vance pledged to pursue “closed borders and safe communities,” presenting the conservative movement as part of a larger moral and national mission.

“Only God can promise you salvation in heaven, but together, we can fulfill the promise of the greatest nation in the history of the Earth,” he said.

The event also featured remarks from several other high-profile conservative figures, while President Donald Trump briefly addressed attendees by phone, according to reports.
