Russian Envoy to Review Peace Talks Progress
Last month, a peace framework prepared by the administration of US President Donald Trump was leaked to the press, sparking intense diplomatic exchanges among representatives from the US, EU, Russia, and Ukraine.
The original 28-point plan reportedly required Kiev to renounce its claim to Russia’s Donbass region, abandon aspirations for NATO membership, and accept limits on the size of its armed forces, among other stipulations.
Since then, Ukraine and its European allies have sought to introduce their own conditions, seemingly in an effort to dilute the initial draft. Moscow has insisted it will adhere to its established red lines.
Speaking to journalists in the US on Sunday, Dmitriev remarked that those attempting to prolong the conflict “have not succeeded in derailing talks with Trump’s representatives.”
