Erdogan Says Israel’s Leadership Driving Region Toward Disaster

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized Israel on Tuesday, claiming that a ruling network within the country, seeing itself as superior, is steadily driving the region toward disaster, according to reports.

“We all know that the attacks targeting Gaza first, then Yemen and Lebanon, and most recently Iran, are not solely motivated by security concerns,” he said during an iftar gathering at the presidential complex in Ankara.

Erdogan emphasized the need to clearly communicate the facts to the global public, especially at a time when the international system established after World War II is undergoing what he described as a historic rupture.

“Israel has kept our first qibla, Al-Aqsa Mosque, closed to Muslim worshippers for 17 days entirely on arbitrary grounds and without any authority,” he said, adding that the concurrent narratives, ranging from promised land ambitions to apocalyptic scenarios, appear deliberate rather than coincidental.

"It is essential that we break free from imposed agendas and explain these realities, this barbarity, and this state of madness to the world in a way that leaves an impact," he added.

Reports note that Israel and the United States have continued a joint military campaign against Iran since February 28, resulting in more than 1,300 deaths, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf nations hosting US military assets. These actions have caused casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions affecting global markets and aviation, according to reports.
