Russia, Ukraine Report Casualties in Latest Cross-Border Strikes

(MENAFN) Russia and Ukraine exchanged accusations of fresh attacks on Monday, with Moscow reporting two deaths and multiple injuries from Ukrainian strikes, while Kyiv said 14 people were wounded in Russian attacks, according to reports.

A worker at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was killed in what plant officials described as a Ukrainian drone strike. In a statement, the facility’s press service said: “Today, as a result of a strike by an UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of the transport workshop of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, a driver was killed.”

The plant described the incident as a severe loss and said the victim’s family would receive support and assistance.

“Employees of the nuclear industry should not become targets. Any attacks on the Zaporizhzhia NPP are a threat not only to people but to security in general. A strike on life and on the future,” the statement added.

On the Russian side, officials in the Belgorod region said continued Ukrainian attacks left one person dead and six others injured over the past 24 hours, according to reports from a regional task force.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities reported renewed Russian strikes on the Odesa region, where Governor Oleh Kiper said 14 people were injured overnight.

Both sides also reported environmental damage in the Black Sea, including oil leaks from vessels reportedly damaged during the exchanges of attacks.
