Trump Pushes House GOP to Pass Budget Blueprint to Fund ICE
According to reports, Trump called on his party in Congress to unite behind the proposal, which has already been approved by the Senate, and move it forward without delay in the House of Representatives.
“House Republicans must unify, and pass the same Blueprint to get the bill done.
"I’ve asked for the final Bill on my desk by June 1, and we can make that deadline if we keep to the plan, fast and focused," Trump said on Truth Social.
Last week, Senate Republicans took an initial step toward securing long-term funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol through the remainder of Trump’s term, without support from Democratic lawmakers.
The move is part of a broader Republican effort to resolve a partial government shutdown that has left the Department of Homeland Security without funding since February 14, amid an ongoing political dispute over immigration enforcement policy.
According to reports, the deadlock has been fueled in part by Democratic demands for reforms to immigration enforcement practices, particularly involving ICE, following deadly incidents involving federal agents in Minnesota earlier this year.
